But I'm doing it in between shots, video calls and an August that smells like a pause... but not for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In the background: the Stones<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Not only the wild Stones live... but also the wild Stones of <em>\"Shine a Light<\/em>those of <em>\"Under My Thumb<\/em>The sweaty faces, the perfect tension, the look of complicity in the midst of chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What makes a band work live?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And what makes a complex project come to fruition?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer, for me, is the same:<br><strong>What cannot be seen. What sounds, but makes no noise.<\/strong>..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mick shines. Keith is off-key and thrills you just the same. But in the midst of this choreographed mess there is a precise machinery that holds it all together:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rhythm guitars<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The choristers who soften every sentence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The technician who corrects without warning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The one who changes a rope without interrupting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The one who takes care of the energy so that it is never extinguished<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As in a good play. As in every project that has made me feel <strong>part of something that deserved to be told.<\/strong>..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca5 Because we've also had our <em>Rock and Roll Circus<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects that promised more than they could deliver<br>Customers who wanted epic without rehearsal<br>Star suppliers who forgot to tune<br>Chaos, delays, tension?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The occupational hazard of the job.<\/strong> As in music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But even on those occasions I learned something important:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udfb6 <em>\"The sunshine bores the daylights out of me\"<\/em>Jagger said in <em>Rocks Off<\/em><br>Light is also tiring. The spotlight wears out<br>And there are times when <strong>To shine is to know when not to get in front.<\/strong>..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my job I've been a frontman... and a rhythm guitarist...<br>I've led openings in areas with more tension than backstage at a festival...<br>I tuned quietly, so that others could sign the last note...<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And when everything went well, as in a good encore, I thought:<br><strong>\"This sounded like it was meant to sound\".<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not just the Stones<br>I am also inspired by <strong>Springsteen, The Who, U2, Oasis, The Libertines...<\/strong><br>Each with their own chaos, their own hunger, their own way of going on stage. <strong>knowing that there is no network.<\/strong>..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like us. As in every project in which the technical aspects are only the beginning.<br>Because what makes a performance memorable is not the score.<br>It is the delivery. It's the rhythm.
